Door Window Concepts
Classrooms or any room children could be in:
Room must be viewable from the outside always (except an active shooter situation)

To view children, in rooms, per your Child Risk Management Policy

For firefighters to check the room for a fire

Rooms must be able to be non-viewable for an active shooter
If multiple windows, only 1 needs to be viewable (is my understanding for Green Bay).
Doors can be left in open or closed position but must be lock by only needing to be pushed closed to lock the door for an active shooter situation.
Checks all outside doors that they are locked after school starts.
Checks all doors that children are in that they are in the locked position whether the door is opened or closed.
Check mechanical and storage doors that they are closed and secured.
Door Window Policy:
A door window Policy puts the compliance and check in the Principals control.
Speak with staff, post in teachers work room, post on schools WEB site (the theory to child safety is it takes a village). Designate primary person and secondary person if primary person is not available. Principal or designated person attend to any problems as communicated verbally by the primary, secondary person, or AD.
Duties of Primary or Secondary person:
After school starts around 8:??, Monday thru Friday, physically check all exterior doors that they are locked, check all classroom doors that the door knob is in the locked position, check mechanical and storage doors that they are secured and locked, check that all rooms that children are potentially in are view able, check that a secondary window is non view able if the room has two or more windows. This task would be performed late Friday for the weekend.
Any door window problem would be brought to the attention of the Principal to address.
Duties of AD:
This task would be performed by the AD prior to any Pilgrim home game (by 4).
Any door window problem would be brought to the attention of the Principal to address.
Note: I preformed this daily task, at Pilgrim, in 6 minutes.
